Here's everything you need to make these delicious mason jar lid pies. These are great for taking with you when you need something on the go.
Ingredients to Gather
12 regular sized mason jar lids
2 or more cans of pie filling (cherries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.)
1/2 cup of sugar
3-4 tbsp cornstarch
1 box of refrigerated pie crust
1 egg, beaten
Turbinado sugar (optional)
Directions to Follow
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
Place your pie crusts on a lightly floured surface.
Using a knife, trace around the circumference of your mason jar lids and rings (make sure the pie crust circles are a bit larger than the lids and rings).
Next, take the larger pie crust circle and place it inside the lids, with the silicone part of the lids facing down. Take some of the pie fillings and spoon it in, and then place the smaller piece of crust on top, cutting slits in the top crust so that steam can escape. Press the edges of the crust together using a fork, and then brush the crust with egg wash. Now that you've assembled the miniature pies, place them on a parchment-covered baking sheet and sprinkle with the turbinado sugar if you wish. Finally, bake them for 25 minutes and when they're done, take them out of the oven and let them cool for between 5 and 10 minutes before serving.
And…done! Aren't these pies adorable? This is such a simple idea but so clever, and these mini pies are perfect for parties and other gatherings. Enjoy!
