Bottoms Up! Here's To Indulging In Whole Milk Without A Shred Of Guilt!
Traditionally, people drank milk in its purest form, straight from the cow. This was basically whole milk, and it was beloved for its rich and creamy texture and flavor. However, a few decades ago food scientists began developing versions that were lower in fat than whole milk, including low-fat, 2 percent, 1 percent and skim.
For years, skim milk was the go-to choice for people who were especially health-conscious or on a diet.
However, now it appears that skim milk doesn't live up to the hype and that good ol' fashioned whole milk is actually better for you!
In fact, whole milk isn't as indulgent as it sounds and only contains 3 percent fat. If you're confused about the difference between the types of milk, basically it refers to the separation process, when milk producers remove the cream from the milk and put some of it back in.
For skim milk they take out all the cream, and for low-fat milk they put back 1 percent or 2 percent. So how did low-fat milk become all the rage, and why is whole milk actually better for you?
