We Know Which One We'd Rather Buy!
Most of us would probably assume that it costs more to buy cooked food than to buy it raw and take it home and cook it ourselves. We certainly believe this to be the case when it comes to rotisserie chicken vs. raw chicken, because in general we pay for the convenience of prepared foods by shelling out more at the checkout. However, looking at the price tag on a rotisserie chicken can suggest otherwise, because for just a few bucks customers get a fully cooked and seasoned chicken without investing all of the time and effort. But how can this be true?
Well, the folks over at website Priceonomics took a long, hard look at the issue and found that in general, the price tag “per chicken” for rotisserie chicken seems cheaper than raw chicken, but the raw chicken in the meat aisle actually has a lower cost per pound. If that all sounds a little confusing, don't worry, because we have the full explanation for you right here.

If price is your only concern you need to ‘re-evaluate what and why you eat. Roasting a chicken at home can take as little as half an hour, you controlled the spices and SALT. Here in Chicago I have NEVER gotten a store roasted or rotisserie chicken that wasn’t way over cooked and dry and incredibly stay
The exception is Costco. But even there I buy the bird and do it myself.
I agree totally. Roasting a chicken is so easy! Doing it at home let’s you control the end product.
When I buy raw it’s only skinless, boneless breast and thighs. The Rotisserie chicken has skin, bones, wings and backs that I’m not going to eat.
I woukd rather do my own rotisserie chicken. I season it to our liking and I put it in my set it and forget it and in about 2 hours 15 minutes its done. That’s for a 5 pound bird. We always have enough leftover to make another meal. I get them for $0.99 per pound. So it’s roughly $2.50 per meal. I have a family of 3.
I’m lazy, Costco yard bird is the the way for me @ $4.99
Janie Hazelbaker love my “Set it & forget it”, too
Ok, but I will buy mine raw and make it my way in whatever way my taste buds tell me to that day.
Our local store the chickens are so small they look like pigeons . and they don’t fill the container. better to do your own
Costco sells a large rotisserie for $4.99!! And it is really good, so I don’t know how much cheaper you can get to that! And no electric from the oven. When finished, becomes broth for soup!!
And the cost of my work involved in prep and clean up!!!
Raw whole chicken in Memphis is 9 bucks …..

ROTISSERIE is, $4.98 for a 4+ pound chicken at Sam’s Club
Cook your own. Beer can chicken!
raw is much larger then any rotisserie chicken.
Chickens are packed with an allowable moisture pick up of 15%, most whole birds are packed with a gib pack inside, when you cook them you cook out the moisture pickup plus natural juices in the process. So having said that by the time your done trimming, removed the gib pack, cooked out juices, you are close to a wash on eatable home cooked chicken, plus you had to invest your time. Kroger or your favorite grocery do great jobs cooking them!
Try Costco. The chickens are the biggest I’ve ever seen
Don’t matter why buy one when you can make your own seasoned the way you want
