There are tons of ways to make it but the way that I like to cook it up involves a secret ingredient and technique that I learned when I was in Quebec.

Mom made this for us as kids back in the 50’s and 60’s without the spices. She always called it “egg bread” which what I call french toast still today.
Put Eggnog in place of milk. It is so good.

French Toast always tastes better than the traditional pancake staple in the morning. When was the last time you had this American Classic?
The Ingredients To Gather:
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons butter
4 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 slices challah, brioche or white bread
1/2 cup maple syrup, warmed
The Step By Step Instructions To Follow:
In a small bowl, combine, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar and set aside briefly.
In a 10-inch or 12-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk together all of the ingredients in a small bowl.
Dip the bread in egg mixture.
Fry the bread slices until golden brown, then cook the other side.
Finished!
Instead of wing-ing it in the morning while making French Toast now you have the ingredients and directions.
