Here's everything you need for this amazing copycat Steak ‘N Shake Frisco Melt. You need 10 minutes of prep time and 10 minutes of cooking time.
Let's Get Started…
Ingredients To Gather:
- 2 tablespoons thousand island dressing
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 lb ground beef or 1 lb chuck
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- 1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
- 2 tablespoons onions, diced fine
- 8 slices American cheese
- 4 slices swiss cheese
- tomatoes
- lettuce
Directions To Follow:
- Combine Thousand Island Dressing and ketchup thoroughly, set aside.
- Form ground beef into 8 thin patties.
- Pan fry to desired doneness, set patties aside.
- While patties are cooking, lightly toast all 8 slices of bread in a toaster.
- Drain the excess fat from the skillet.
- Add 1/2 tablespoon butter or margarine to the skillet (medium heat) and add all the onions when butter has melted.
Next, cook the onions for 2 or 3 minutes or until they're soft, and then remove from heat an set aside but don't drain the skillet. Now, place four slices of bread in the skillet and cook for 1 to 2 minutes of until the bread is lightly toasted, and then flip the bread over and toast the other side. Take the bread out of the skillet, melt the rest of the butter and toast the rest of the bread. Place a slice of American cheese on top of each of the bottom slices of bread. Place a beef patty on top of the American cheese, followed by a slice of Swiss cheese, another beef patty and then another slice of American cheese. Take the grilled onions and divide them evenly between all of the sandwiches, spread the dressing on the top slice of bread, and then close the sandwiches, cut each sandwich in half diagonally, top with two lettuce leaves and two tomatoes, and the serve.
Finished!
That sounds like one heck of a sandwich, and is so filling it's perfect for a hearty lunch or even for a satisfying dinner. Even better if you serve it with french fries or onion rings.
Happy Baking & Enjoy!
